    3. Dear Betsy, I could have helped you straight away, but my indices are now in Boston. You could write either to Rev. Fr. Dannie Broderick (who is now in charge of the Allihies and Allihies Parishes) and ask him if it would be possible to get somebody to try the Allihies Parish Baptismal Records --- there were only Baptismal Records given in those days --- for the Baptismal Record of Ellen Kelly (Baptised in Allihies in 1835 -- or around 1835). Fr. Dannie Broderick lives in The Presbytery, Eyeries, Beara Peninsula, Co. Cork, Ireland. Or you could write to N.E.G.H.S, 101 Newbury Street, Boston, Mass. The latter information could take you alot longer. And I could be able to tell you almost straight away where Daniel Kelly and Mary Power were later living in whatever Townland and Parish. But,now the same position exists. Sorry. Riobard. 3. Dear Betsy, Just phoned Fr. Dannie, but he is not at home. He could be in any Townland in the Parish of Allihies visiting some ill person. The poor man is rushed off his feet, as he has to look after the Parishes of Eyeries and Allihies at present, and some times some one of the other Parishes as well, if a priest is not available at the time. Times have changed. In my younger days, there used be 2 Catholic Priests in my Parish alone, but now there are only 4 Catholic Priests in the whole Beara Peninsula, and that includes the Bonane Parish which takes in the Glengarriff side of Co. Cork and the Co. Kerry side of the same Parish. Yes, the years have brought about many changes in the Church. The number of Catholic Priests is getting lesser and lesser fairly quickly. There is no Protestant Minister in Beara now. The area has to be covered from Bantry, about 40 miles away. Riobard.
