I'm just after tracking down Fr. Dannie. A Carmel O'Sullivan is in the Presbytery on Mondays and Tuesdays, and he will phone me with her number when he comes back. He is doing a wedding at present. Dear Betsy, I NEVER GIVE UP. ELLEN'S PARENTS, DANIEL KELLY & MARY POWER WERE MARRIED IN BALLINAKILLA CHURCH, BERE ISLAND, on Feb. 21st 1824 by Fr. G. Prevendeville who was a Curate. The Witnesses were Jer Kelly and Edmond Power. The Witnesses at the time used be two men. Mary was from Derrycreeveen, on the Western End of Bere Island, just inside the Atlantic Ocean), but there are no Powers left there now. DANIEL & MARY settled down in a small Townland in the Allihies Parish, and which was called KEALOGUE and had six children while they were in Kealogue :- 1) Jeremiah in Dec. 1825 (after there was a big gap. Many men in those days were miners in the Allihies copper mines, and at times went to copper mines in the States for a while before returning home. Then there was 2) Nora (Jan. 1834): 3) was your ELLEN, who was Baptised in June 1836, not as you thought in 1835: 4) was a Mary, Baptised in Apr. 1840; followed by a Catherine in Mar. 1843; and last of all was a Daniel in Oct. 1845 during the Famine in Ireland. During, and after, the Famine in Ireland, many, especially from the Beara Peninsula, emigrated to the States, especially to the copper mines around Calumet, Michigan, and Butte, Montana. Sorry, Betsy, I'll have to go, as somebody very, very dear to me is ---- well,I won't say any more for now. I may be back to you in a week or so. Anyhow, look, it depends on circumstances. Riobard.
