Laurie, Joseph is listed the 1912 Billerica city directory at the Pollard St address (same as the 1910 census), but then Catherine appears in Lowell in 1913 listed as a widow. So that gives you a time frame for death. I would suggest emailing the town clerk of Billerica to see if they have a record. If not, then try the city clerk in Lowell. It cost a few dollars to get a copy of the record, but they should be able to provide you the information via email. You can find Catherine and family in 1920 by searching for Sullivan, not Battersby. They were living on Newhall St., which matches up with a 1922 Lowell directory listing for Catherine Battersby. (And the census indicates that she was born in MA, so you have to take Census records as useful but not always fully ccurate.) I'll connect with you off-list over the weekend.
