I was talking to a family relative about my legs one day and I was told I have Harrington(Causkey) legs, meaning I have varicose legs. When my husband and I traveled to Castletown the nice people we met would ask me if I had the Harrington(Causkey) legs. I was just wondering if any of you out there had run into this leg situation? Thank you Caroleann
Caroleann: I am a Harrington with unknown connection in the Castletown area, on my Father's side. Jeremiah and Margaret (nee Murphy from Eyeries) came to the USA in early 1850s. They went on to Galena, Ill. and Apple River, Wisc.. They brought five children with them; one girl stop at Providence RI to get married to John D. Sullivan in 1854, her name was Cathrine Harrington. The others were Jeremiah (Jerry). Margaret, Timothy and Patrick. We have person in four of the five genealogy lineage doing research; several of us with Riobard. I do have varicose legs! We have no idea of our family name. I do suspect that Jeremiah was in the US about the end of 1830s. I also believe some of the Harrington that came to the New England area might have been related; per Boston College archives. Maybe a connection ???
