Hi all, I have been trying to trace my Sullivan/Harrington line for many years. Cornelius Sullivan (of Lawrence and Mary) was born in Kilkaskin, County Cork in 1826 arrived in New York in 1851 and he married Mary Harrington born in Ireland (of Cornelius and Bridget) in New Bedford at St. Lawrence Church in 1857, witnesses to the marriage were Eugene Sullivan and Ellen O'Neil. Their first child MaryAnn was born in Fall River in 1858(St. Mary's church baptism listed a Mary Murphy as a sponsor) as were three sons Michael, John and Florence. The family moved to Newport between 1863-1865 and had five additional children: William (my ggrandfather), Henry, Timothy, Margaret and Cornelius, Jr. Cornelius and all his 7 sons worked at the New England Steamship Compay as boilermakers and lived in the point section on Washington Street in Newport. MaryAnn Sullivan married Jeremiah Sullivan in 1882 in Newport and had five children: John"Ranger Jack", Daniel "Mecca Dan", Florence, Margaret, and Annie. Florence Sullivan married Mary Burke and had four daughters: Agnes, Getrude, Hilda and Alice - all daughters were school teachers in Newport. Florence was the general foreman of the New England steamship Company in the 1920s and 30s William Sullivan married Sarah Lawton in 1889 and had a son William Sullivan, Jr. my grandfather. In the 1870 census in Newport, the family lived with a Hannah (Harrington) Nash, she is related to Mary Harrington but I have not been able to determine the direct relationship. Hannah Harrington (of Michael and Margaret) married Richard Nash in 1861 in New Bedford. Witnesses to the marriage were John Harrington and Julia Murphy. I am Looking forward to hearing from any Sullivan, Harrington or possible Murphy connections. Best regards, Patrick Sullivan, Taunton, MA **************Looking for a car that's sporty, fun and fits in your budget? Read reviews on AOL Autos.
