    2. Hi Riobard- I have seen many emails to an from you regarding Irish Ancestry and hoping that you might be able to point me in the right direction as well.? My family surname is LYONS.? My?ggggrandfather was Jeremiah Lyons, his wife's name was Margarett.? They had at least 1 son that I am aware of, my ggggrandfather, William, born @1812 in Cork (not sure whether that's county or city).? William married Roseanna Armshaw, born @1812 in Tipperary.? William was Catholic and a?mason by trade.? They emigrated to America @ sometime before 1846 as all 6 children were born in NY.??My research has proven that they were somewhere in NY, I'm guessing NYC, and moved to New London, Ct. as I've found them on the census of 1850 but find them in 1860 on the 1860 Census in Sag Harbor, NY.? My family lives in that area today!? I travelled to Ireland in 2006 and felt so connected yet unable to find the ancestral home.?That being my objective - perhaps you could recommend some resources in Cork that I might p! ursue.? Once I have that...I will return to Ireland...in hopes of discovering other brothers and sisters?to William. Thanks for listening! Sometimes I am not at home when people call to my door looking for help in tracing their ancestors. For instance, yesterday somebody in Castletownbere sent people out 5 miles to Eyeries to me to help them ----- but it was a wasted journey, as I happened to be about 100 miles away in Cork City at the time. It is better to phone (74015) from any part of Beara, Co. Cork South-West, first. Even if I'm not at home, a message can be left (plus email, if possible). If calling from any part of Ireland outside of the Bantry/Beara areas, the phone is (027)74015. If wanting to get in touch with me from the U.S.A., etc., it would be easier first to email me. If writing, don't forget to enclose your email. I suppose I'm getting a bit lazy with old age !! ----- Riobard. -- I am using the free version of SPAMfighter for private users.
