J Murphy, H Sullivan, M Crowley, C Murphy, J Harrington, J Harrington, J Crowley, P Sullivan, C Donnahy, W Orpin, J Sullivan, P Lowney, Michael (Mike) O'Sullivan Ukirre (my Father), Daniel (Dan) O'Sullivan Ukirre (my Uncle), J Martin, M Sullivan, D Murphy. Can anyone help with the year, or the family's the other players came from? I also have a football medal. Engraved Cork Junior Football Championship 1943 Won by Bere Island, can onyone tell me who was on the team please. I do have the book 50 Years of Beara Football, on page 45 is a photo of Bere Island V St Vicent's in the 1946 County J.F.C Final, back row second from the left is my Uncle Pete O'Sullivan Ukirre he would have been 34yrs in 1946. Hi Sheila, I have no idea who the guys are that were on your father's team. There would have been a few soldiers on the 1943 team.Brendan and Weeshie MurphyI know Weeshie was on the Cork team that year. The only name I could distinguish was Orpen >I am pretty sure there was only one family of them on the Island.There are still a bunch of decendants around the Island and castletown. Dear Sheila, I, also, have the same photo with the names on the back, but I'm just wondering if it was taken pre-1927. Football was only played in challenge games in Beara until then. Perhaps if you wrote to Brendan Murphy, Treasurer of the Beara G.A.A. Board, Rerrin, Bere Island, he might be able to help you. The names of those on the Bere Island team that won the Cork County Junior Football Championship in 1943 are on page 41 of my book "50. Years of Beara Football".
