LOL, Riobard! What ever would we do without you! I'm still wet around the ears and trying to figure out the parishes, let alone the town-lands. I tend to liken the Irish counties to our states, your parishes to our counties (except in Louisiana where they too have parishes rather than counties), then town to town, city to city. Am I learning anything? Got any good stories about Ardagh (that's correct, isn't it?) on Bere Island? Doesn't even have to be good :) I'm just hungry for a story. And please explain for novices such as I, is it Bere or Beare? I know I get Beare from O'Sullivan Beare, but thought I'd seen that used as the spelling of the island also. Am I totally off? Dear Lisa, You will get buckets of stories about Ardagh (one of the townlands of Bere Island) in my book "Who were my Ancestors ? Bere Island Parish" from me here. I thought the books were nearly all gone, but recently I came across a container of them that I had forgotten existed. When they are all gone, everybody will be looking for them, but then it will be too late. Regards, Riobard. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Lisa O" <ohlisao@att.net> To: <beara@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, October 12, 2008 5:22 AM Subject: Re: [BEARA] Spelling. > LOL, Riobard!
