A Happy Thanksgiving Day to all. As they say in Ireland: "Here I am again like the bad weather !" The reason why you didn't hear from me all along was that I was working hard at the Glengarriff part of the Glengarriff/Bonane Deaths Records ---- the dates, names, ages, addresses/or places of deaths, causes, and even the people who were present with those who died at the time of death. I started at the beginning of the Civil Records on January 1st 1864 and have at present about 44 years of them done. It is very slow work when you are on your own. What mystified me was the number of children and adults who died in the early years with no medical attention. Tuberculosis, scarletina, typhoid fever, bronchitis, whooping cough, pneumonia and diptheria were rampant. But though people in general died younger than they do now, a lady in Firkale lived to be 99; a lady in Dirreenbue and a man in Coorannil lived to be 100; a man in Currakeal hit the 104 mark. But, not to be outdone, a lady in Mounteen Sudder made it to 105. 'Tis time for bed. I was in Cork City ---- about 100 miles away ---- all day. Anyhow, I hope you all have a lovely Thanksgiving Day. When we thinkof it, we have alot to be thankful for. God bless you all, Regards, Riobard. -- I am using the free version of SPAMfighter. We are a community of 5.7 million users fighting spam. Hi Riobard, Many thanks for the turkey greetings. We're letting the turky settle before we dig into the cherry pie alamode. Hope your day was a good one and your weekend be a great one. We're heading for our Florida home on Sunday and get out of this chilly weather.
