Hi all, Riobard, Would you please explain a bit further for me? I see (Ardra) listed after our family in your book, but seems associated with the Mrs. rather than the Mr. with the exception of (Roger) by John O'Sullivan (page 4 of your Bere Island book), which I know designates John's father's name. You do note that John settled on the family Ardra farm after his brother Roger moved to Rerrin. So, am I correct in assuming Ardra would be the correct family branch name? Further down in your text it notes John and Brigid's son Timmy settled in the home place . Of course he has since passed, but I wonder if you know who might now reside in the 'home place' if anyone?? Lisa
Hi Lisa,The family were known as the "Rogers or Roger Sullivans" and Ann is correct that they lived in Ardra but Ardra is on the east end of the Island(I am sure I will hear from Ann about that).I am not sure if any of Margaret and Timmy's kids live in the old home but I do know there are members of the familythat live in the area.I believe one of the girls is involved in the heritage center Take Care , Jim. > From: ohlisao@att.net > To: beara@rootsweb.com > Date: Sat, 7 Mar 2009 14:15:29 -0600 > Subject: [BEARA] Sullivans/O'Sullivans: Uonhi. > > Hi all, > > Riobard, > > Would you please explain a bit further for me? Hi Lisa, Ardra is the name of the townland (area of Bere Island) that your family lived in. If you look at page xviii of the Bere Island book there is a map showing all of the townlands, Ardra is on the far west of the Island. My family come from Cloughland. I'm not sure if there is anyone from your family still living there, but I'm sure Riobard will know.
