Hello. To the Beara List Member regarding a Jeremiah HARRINGTON who came to DOWLAIS in Wales  I have a number of booklets on Merthyr/Dowlais R.C. Churches also others related to the area. I just picked up one and I found this baptism. Jeremiah HARRINGTON baptised Sept 25th 1858 son of Jeremiah HARRINGTON and Ellen GOLDEN at the R.C. Parish Church of St. Illtyd, Dowlais, Merthyr, Glamorgan, there are also baptism dates for more of their children ELLEN, JAMES, MARY, DANIEL,DENNIS, also the wedding details although sparse of Jeremiah and Ellen. I'm looking for info about an Irish ancestor called Jeremiah Harrington who we hink was born around 1832 in county Cork, family tradition says he was from drigole. His father was John Harrington, a farmer. There is a tale in the amily that he was a first cous in of a prominent MP called Timothy Harrington. We don't know anything else about his time in Ireland, he was orphaned probably during the famine?) and went to live in Dowlais in Wales when he was a oung man (we know he was in wales by 1851). In Dowlais he married Ellen Golden (or Golding?) who we think was from Ovens n county Cork whose father was John Golden. I'm interested in any general information about these names and places, or ips for good resources where I can research this. Also I know there are ifferent branches of Harringtons, which branch is found around the adrigole rea? Has anyone heard of the MP Timothy Harrington (apparently he has a statue in astletownbere), maybe if I could find details of his family it would give some ore clues?
