Hi everyone. I, too, need some help but in getting money to Ireland. I received some certificates from a church in Allihies and I need to send the suggested donation to them for the research. However, I am having difficulty getting euros here in the states from my banks. They have to order them and the minimum amount is way more than I need and there is a stiff fee for ordering them. I cannot get a money order in euros and certainly don't want to send euros in the mail. Can anyone tell me if I send them a money order in American dollars will they be able to cash it over there into euros? Thanks, Joan
They should be able to deposit a US dollar check, although there will be a bank fee for the currency conversion. I recall it as being roughly 2-3%. Also, remember the exchange rate. It has been fluctuating between $1.30 and $1.35 to the Euro. I usually use http://www.xe.com/ucc/ to check. The site does conversions either way. Bill William H.
