Anyone have ancestors who's last name was Sheehan from the Beara Peninsula? Did any of them end up in Fall River, MA.I recently started concentrating on searching my Sheehan ancestors from the Beara Penisula    I had gotten research of my great grandmother's immediate family and siblings, parents, etc.. (my great grandmother was Georgina Sheehan daughter of Denis Sheehan and Ellen Spring.  Denis was the son of Denis Sheehan and Mary Downing and I have all of their children. Started searching some of the names I had that went to US which led me to other Sheehans that came to the US (luckily most of the manifests would label their family connection - mother, cousin, etc..)  Alot of them started out in Fall River, MA as their first destination in the US.  Found the widow of Patrick Sheehan (son of Denis Sheehan and Mary Downing) (Julia O'Sullivan Sheehan) and their children who ended up in the Bronx, NY; and then found their cousins - who were the children of a William Sheehan and Bridget Sheehan who emigrated to Fall River, MA in 1894 (the husband William was already there).

Hello Nancy Do you have a Mary Sheehan as a daughter of Denis Sheehan and Mary Downing? I have DNA matches with the Downing and Sheehan families from Beara. However, my Mary Sheehan was at Liosrobin, Newmarket (probably working) and she married Florence McGillicuddy in Boherbue in 1839. I am beginning to believe that the story I got regarding Mary Sheehan's birthplace was garbled in three generations of telling. Florence and Mary had a daughter named Maria McGillicuddy who was born in Cork City, and she was my great grandmother. Have you tested your autosomal DNA with 23andme or with Ancestry or FTDNA?
