    3. Finbar mentions the Sheepshead peninsula, where I have DNA matches. Can anyone tell me how easy it was to travel between the Beara and Sheepshead peninsulas in the days before motorized transport? Was it possible to follow the coastline in a curragh or other small craft? I ask because I'm wondering how closely the Sullivans of Sheepshead might have been connected to those living on the Beara, and whether there would be anything like Riobard's great work on the Beara to help me trace Sheepshead family. DNA results suggest that my paternal gggf Timothy J.Sullivan (b. abt 1819) came from the Kilcrohane area, since my brother and I match living descendants of Donovans, O'Donovans and Sullivans from Laherndota as well as Coughlans from Kilcrohane itself.     3. Carola. What a surprise that you are looking for the Conroy's from Furhir. My husband was William Conroy born in Furhir. William passed away a few weeks ago. He was ill for a long time. There are no more Conroy's living in Ireland they all emigrated to the USA. They settled in California and my family live in Chicago. My husband has only one sibling left alive and she lives in Chicago as well. Would love to know your connection to them. Wendy. {Conroy}

    3. Hi Carola, I can tell you that there was very little interaction between peninsulas . I lived on the south side of Bere Island and I don't remember anyone venturing across the Bay.As young lads we talked about doing it but it never materialized.We had a lot of respect for that bay Good luck with your digging Jim ----- Original Message ----- From: "Carola Murray-Seegert via" <beara@rootsweb.com> To: "Dr. Finbar O Mahony" <fin.omahony@gmail.com>, beara@rootsweb.com Sent: Thursday, February 5, 2015 8:50:45 AM Subject: Re: [BEARA] DNA matches and Beara / Sheepshead contact Finbar mentions the Sheepshead peninsula, where I have DNA matches.
