Riobard, I have to blame my mistake on my computer. I just got it back from the computer doctor this week and am getting used to new features or updates. Then, a message comes to say tomorrow is your birthday. I had to get a greeting off right away! Since that message, I have received a number of others saying tomorrow is the birthday of many other people including the Beara List! But today for me, is also a sad day. It is the 1st anniversary of the death of my sister Maura (married to Batt Burns of Sneem, Co. Kerry, with whom she travelled for many years in the States playing Irish traditional music on the concertina, while Batt entertained the crowds with his story-telling of the olden days in Ireland). Maura was a Nurse in her younger years. She died of motor-neuron in her home in Sneem a year ago tonight. Joan's father Joe's (now dead) birthday was also today. He was born in Eyeries just a week before his father, Quinn (or Quinlan), had died mining in Butte, Montana, trying to make a few dollars to send home to his wife Johanna who had returned from Butte shortly before that.
