'Tis just after midnight, and I'm in the door from Dunmanway Gaelic Pitch after a thrilling County Senior Football Championship game between Beara and UCC (Cork University). Beara, showing grit, guts and determimation, finally won what was a thrilling game from start to finish. The teams were level at the full-time whistle. Extra time had then to be played. The teams were still level after the first half of the extra time. But Beara had got over the line when the final whistle blew. There were scenes of sheer joy in the Beara team and supporters after the game. To be honest with you, I'm still hoarse from shouting, so much so that I will hardly be able to say "Hello" in the morning. UCC were hot favourites to win the game ---- but Beara are Beara.
