Hello Eleanor, As you probably know, Harrington is the second most common surname found on the Beara peninsula. If you can provide us with your ancestor's given name, and if possible the names of his parents, siblings, and children, that could help us to narrow down the possibilities. Part of the Beara peninsula falls within county Kerry, so you might be on the right track asking here. Also, if you happen to remember the names of any places that he spoke of when he was reminiscing about home, that could help.
