    3. Riobard and All, That's about as good an explanation as I have heard. And it makes sense. Thank you for 'sticking your head on the block'! Makes me curious as to what kind of trade it was. Well, it could come from maybe two things:- 1) From the Christian name Michael, which is Micheal (pronounced like Meehawl) in Gaelic. For example, the Christian name Michael could be attached to what is known as "the Michaels" --- the descendants of some Michael/Micheal (who would have been one of their ancestors --- and that would lead to, for instance, Jack (Micheal) Harrington. Or the Name, for example,Jack, who would be called, knownby Jacksy locally; or Patrick who would be known as Patsy. Sothe name Micheal could be known as Haulsey. The meaning of Haulsey could come from a craft/trade. for instance "the Haulseys" could come from people who originally practiced acraft/trade. For example Patsy (Haulsey) Harrington (whose name, or ancestor's name, in that case) would have come from a man practising, or would have practiced/practised the craft/trade Haulsey. Or, another person I have known as Michael (the Weaver) Sheehan was a man who practised the craft of weaving. I haven't read of anybody else in the Beara giving any explanation or possible explanation of Haulsey, so I am putting my head on the block, and giving my cent's or dollar's worth ---- for what it is worth. If there is anybody out there who can do better, then I would love to bow to his/her expertise. ---- Riobard. * ------------------------------ Message: 3 Date: Tue, 23 Oct 2012 11:00:09 -0700 From: Susan Twomey <[email protected]> Subject: Re: [BEARA] HAULSEY To: [email protected] Message-ID: <[email protected]> Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Riobard, I think your contributions are always worth much more than MANY "dollars worth"!!! Dear friends of Beara, It seems I keep coming here with news of tragedy. I wish that weren't so, but so it is. This morning my wife Paula died. When I woke up she was unresponsive. Still warm, but not breathing. I called the paramedics. They found no heartbeat. She was pronounced dead at the hospital shortly thereafter. Best guess is she had a heart attack just a little while before I woke up. That's a son-in-law, and a wife, both gone in two months. Between them we lost our friend Donal O. Will you please remember Paula Anne Gawne in your prayers? Also, spare a thought for her daughters Grace, so recently widowed, and Amanda; and for her granddaughters Bethany and Rhiannon. -- Bill ------------------------------- To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to [email protected] with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message ------------------------------ To contact the BEARA list administrator, send an email to [email protected] To post a message to the BEARA mailing list, send an email to [email protected] __________________________________________________________ To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to [email protected] with the word "unsubscribe" without the quotes in the subject and the body of the email with no additional text. 3. Dear Robert, Sorry for the short delay in answering you. Joan & I are just in from visiting a very ill person who lives about 8 miles away. The answer to your question is: it needn't have been any craft/trade in particular. If they were the people, they must have been versatile. Though I have put my head on the block many times, it is still going strong !! ---- Riobard.
