    3. Interesting site, Bill. The surname is apparently from the Laune river, unusually topographical for Irish, and the family looks to be a branch of O'Sullivan Beare of Kilorgin, County Kerry. Wondering in constructing a family tree, whether Maurice Launey (circa 1759-1810) and Elizabeth Leahy (circa 1760-1810) can be considered as common ancestors for all Lowney descendants in Cork at that time, or are there any other known families who relocated there?
