Yep Riobard and not just indoors either.......... more than the odd poor devil caught courting in the wrong place at the wrong in the pre motorcar days often and failing to keep an eye out because of the business in hand, ' got the print of a four prong pike across his arse' from an irate parent, well up my end of the county anyway. One of my funniest teen memories is seeing someone I knew and a farmers daughter from a parish that shall be nameless, ( lets save Bill an International law suit ) both in various states of undress in full flight along the headlands a fine summer evening......... and the father in full charge behind bellowing like a bull with the fore prong fork held like a 98 pike man. Some tyre rubber burned out of that townland that particular evening I am telling you and none of us back there in a hurry! Ah God, such innocent times almost fifty years ago; sure a father would nearly be expected to turn down the bed clothes these days and give them a cup of tea afterwards! Slan is beannacht, Donal. Hi Reg, I see you have the information got on the book, there are generally a few second hand copies to be had. Blasted Amazon etc....second hand book sellers now generally check with this and other sites and it is getting harder to get a reasonable priced bargin these places. Not the same James Stevens : cannot say off hand if there was a family connection there. There however could be a IRB connection, during the 'Celtic Revival' period in particular during the last quarter of the 19th, century, they quitely funded and encouraged any litrature that deepened the appreciation of Irish culture. Reg, and other readers, if you do not know of it, Daniel Corkery's 'Hidden Ireland' is a fine overview of this, well, 'hidden' Ireland as a source before it came into poplar culture. Wow, Riobard, I am late in reading about your honor! Congratulations and what a night it must have been. I would love to have been a "fly on the wall" as they say to see you doing all that dancing and enjoying the honor and all the festivities surrounding it! A once in a lifetime experience but something you truly earned and deserved.
