    2. Finbar O Mahony
    3. Hi, I am glad that Riobard is back and I wish you the very best...I have had three hospitalizations and two general anesthetics in the last three weeks. I have made a number of attempts to order Riobard's book but they have all bounced. If I could have an address for the order by ordinary post (I'm in Dublin)and the price including P+P I'll send it immediately. The contributions by Riobard are like a masterclass in genealogy for a novice like me..many thanks Address: dr. finbar o mahony, folkestone House, 44 terenure road east, rathgar, dublin 6 Finbar This message has been scanned for content and viruses by the DIT Information Services E-Mail Scanning Service, and is believed to be clean. http://www.dit.ie

I will check it out on Ancestry.com to see if there is any discrepancy. 3. Thanks Meg. You are spot on. The Gaelic for Hurley is O Muirthille (pronounced like Oh Muirhille). It is easy to go to Murhilly, etc., from there. 3. Thanks, Lisa. John, Baptised November 22nd 1856 by Fr. John O'Leary C.C. Godparents:- John Watson & Catherine Sullivan (only Baptismal dates given then) was son of Roger Sullivan (2nd marriage) & Johanna Neill. There was a son John (Baptised December 21st 1841 by Fr. Timothy Enright C.C.) who obviously died young. He was son of Roger Sullivan (1st marriage) & Julia Kelly. You are mixing up the 2 Johns. The Civil Deaths Records didn't start in Ireland until January 1st 1861. The second John (Baptised Nov. 22nd 1856) was known as John (Roger). He and his wife Brigid O'Sullivan(Seer) had 14 children. You can read all about them in my book "Who were my Ancestors ? Bere Island Parish.". ----- Original Message ----- From: "Lisa O" <ohlisao@att.net> To: <jpsullivan38@yahoo.com>; <beara@rootsweb.com> Sent: Thursday, July 10, 2008 10:01 PM Subject: Re: [BEARA] BEARA Digest, Vol 3, Issue 238 > > Welcome back Riobard! 2. Hello Riobard, Happy to see you back. I too am interested in how Murhil, Murhilly morphed into Hurley. Does it have something to do with the translation from the Irish language into English? 1. Re: [BEARA] Sullivans in trucking business
    2. Susan Daily
    3. James, I would write, call or email a Fall River librarian and ask them to look up old phone books under "Trucking" for any mention of Sullivans. They should tell you the address they were operating out of, then look up Sullivan in the residential section and see who is listed as a Trucker. Or in some poll books, the occupations are listed next to the person's name, so that might be the way to go. At least this is a way to start the search. 3. Welcome back Riobard! Glad to hear you're feeling better as well. I'm with James, should you find any O'Sullivan's or death dates/locations for Brigid O'Sullivan b. Feb 1870 Cork and her husband John O'Sullivan b. Nov 1856 Bere Island or HIS parents Roger O'Sullivan and Julia Kelly would love to know more! Still looking for descendents of Brigid and John as well, though you have given me much! I've really been enjoying the Bere Island book as well. Thanks again for that! 3. if you find any sullivans related to jeremiah sullivan and helena sullivan circa 1870's let me know.. my father told me in the 50's we had relatives in fall river in the trucking business.my grandfather was born to jeremiah and helena in 1872 in bantry, he came here in 1896 to boston. i am 70 so there is no one left to ask james sullivan jpsullivan38@yahoo.com --- On Thu, 7/10/08, paul.mcdonough@comcast.net <paul.mcdonough@comcast.net> wrote: From: paul.mcdonough@comcast.net <paul.mcdonough@comcast.net> Subject: Re: [BEARA] BEARA Digest, Vol 3, Issue 238 To: beara@rootsweb.com Date: Thursday, July 10, 2008, 8:05 AM I want to wish all those linking in well and reach out to Riobard to take care of himself. I am reconnecting after some absence from the lively exchanges on this site. Quite recently, I have been able to learn more about my great grandmother Julia Harrington who migrated with her mother Honora Kelley Harrington to Fall River Mass in 1892. I have just learned that her father was Jeremiah Harrington and my suspicion is that he must have passed away and that led to the emigration. So I now know the names of both great great grandparents. And can add that Honora Kelley was born about 1837. Julia Harrington was born in the house that served as the post office in Castletownebere in 1874. I visited and stayed there with my distant cousin Julia Harrington in 1980 (Riobard may recall an exchange of emails on this topic some years back). That distant cousin has since passed away. I am now seeking information on Honora Kelley and Jeremiah Harrington as well as information on the rest of their children. Family anecdotes indicate that Julia's grandfather worked in the Alihies copper mines. My great grandmother married Eugene Sullivan from Bandon who migrated to Fall River from Bandon. Trying to piece together that side of the family tree is quite difficult since there were so many Sullivans in Fall River - over 350 by 1890. For those on the list, the other side of the family tree is composed of McDonough's and Powers who were already in Fall River by 1870 and some even in 1860. I have put together a good part of that family tree - if anyone is interested... Looking forward to your responses. 3. Dear Julie, There were several variations of spellings in the surnames of various families, especially in the olden days. It was whatever the Priest wrote down. Sometimes you would get a few variations even within the same family. Regards, Riobard. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Julie Ohanley" <johanley@comcast.net> To: <beara@rootsweb.com> Sent: Thursday, July 10, 2008 1:48 AM Subject: Re: [BEARA] Back again !! > Riobard, you were kind enough to share your research and wonderful books > that revealed my ggrandmother Honora Hurley Hanley had such fantastic > surname recordings with each baptism of her eight children.
