    3. Hi. Also tried to sign up and link failed. Is it possible to temporarily sign up everyone on the list to the new one, and then they can accept or delete personally? Some people may only use the list occasionally and will be cast adrift without a contact otherwise. Thanks. 3. HIRING A PROFESSIONAL GENEALOGIST. - NEED HELP!!!!!! WHERE would be the best source for locating, for hire, professional genealogist in County Cork? 2) WHAT credential would I look for in order to get the best possible person? 3) HOW are payments usually made and processed to the hired genealogist? 4) YOUR IDEAS and THOUGHTS on hiring a genealogist? 14 Feb 2020 I have been at my family research for 20 years and now have reached that “BRICK-WALL”. I have hundreds of pages of documents, family files which are all in digital folders and family trees. I have done 90% of the family research but I’m at a standstill and need some advise from the BEARA community on what to do next. I have been researching the following families: O’MAHONYS of Aherla, Rathard, Cork, who married into the O”SULLIVANS of Carrigrour, Glengarriff, Bantry and their connection to DANIEL, TIMOTHY HARRINGTON, SULLIVANS of Cork, townland unknown (this is my family) All of the O’MAHONYS and O’SULLIVANS are ANCESTRY DNA matches to me, I have considerable research on all the families but can’t find the relationship of the HARRINGTONS to the O’MAHONYS and O’SULLIVAN. THANKS SO MUCH FOR ANY AND HELP AND ASSISTANCE. Dan Harrington [email protected]

    3. I too will be featuring Riobard's music this coming Sunday morning at 8:00 am ( E.S.T.) on The Irish Hour. You can get the show on line by going to our website, WADK.com at 8:00 am and repeated Sunday night at 6:00 pm (E.S.T. ). Riobard will be greatly missed, especially in Eyeries where he could be found most mornings striding down to one of the village markets to get his daily newspaper. 3. Thanks Marianne, I am enjoying your show from Boston, with my husband & box player Eamonn. I’ve Beara Roots. Riobard took over as Urhan principal after my grandfather John Murphy from Eyeries village died. Glad the show will be on SoundCloud. FYI His research is in NEHGS ( New England Historical Genealogy society) not the Boston Beara Society. He was a man capable ofmastering the changes in relationships brought about by the internet. Yet, hewas of the 20th century. I never discussed politics with him, but Iimagine he was someone who would shake hands on a deal; the documents wouldcome later. Your word was your bond. Music—Trad````especially Trad. His line of Dwyers was differentfrom mine. The great fiddler Kevin Burke one noted that a single family areresponsible for keeping trad alive in the  early 1960’s. Riobard was from that line. I amnot.  But he insisted all Dwyers from theBeara were and are related. Who am I to argue? RIP, Cuz. Gone the Days Gone are the days when I was young, In my little village of Ardgroom. And we among the lucky ones Hearing live radio with the news; From Dublintown we got the news Surely it wasn’t 1863. But tough it is to imagine then For we had no electricity. Still the wooden steps to Jim Pat’s pub Were bleachers simply grand-- For we listened to the All-Ireland that day In the finest seats in the land. Tis said that Mayo lost that game For ignoring a funeral procession And now with 50 years full past, Maguire’s never been in their possession. Mayo’s gaffe no concern of ours Playing football in a wet coarse field; And learning just how to triple jump As the Spectators cheered and squealed. Back then our stands were completely filled With leprechauns and with an baintsí, I almost remember their her eerie chant With darkness fast advancing on me. Was it better then, I do not know: My imagination knew no bounds. And with all this new technology, I wonder if an baintsí still makes the rounds. -----Original Message-----From: beara-request <[email protected]>To: beara <[email protected]>Sent: Sat, Jan 25, 2020 12:03 pmSubject: BEARA Digest, Vol 15, Issue 54 Send BEARA mailing list submissions to [email protected] To subscribe via email send a message with subject subscribe and bodysubscribe to [email protected] To unsubscribe via email send a message with subject unsubscribe andbody unsubscribe to [email protected] You can reach the person managing the list at [email protected] When replying, please edit your Subject line so it is more specificthan "Re: Contents of BEARA digest..." 3. Hi Maureen Thanks for getting in touch. It is good to hear from you. Are you one of Barbara's siblings? I am in contact with Barbara through e-mail and she kindly gave me some information on Lizzie Harrington's side of the family. Nanny (Lizzie) was lovely, and such a brilliant sense of humour and always happy. Very gentle. She was very special to each person she met. We were lucky enough to have her to come over and stay with us in England (Brighton) for 3 months in 1965, a year after Grandad died, and we got to know her. We used to visit the farms and the relatives at Christmas, some years. I will contact you by e-mail shortly, when I have a moment. Thanks again, for getting in touch. Kind regards Mary Funnell Mary Funnell Brighton East Sussex England On Friday, 24 January 2020, 23:51:50 GMT, <[email protected]> wrote: Hello Mary Funnell, In reading this thread and your message, I realize that your grandmother Lizzie Sheehan Harrington is my mother's (Rita Sheehan Culkin) sister and my aunt. RIP.ie So sorry to hear about Riobard - we expected him to live on forever, and he will continue to do so in legend. When he was researching the Beara families, he personally went around the villages and met the descendants of the ancient families for their oral history memoirs. He visited my Uncle Denis Harrington (Trokirre) at Lickbarrahan, and wrote down our family history. Riobard gave each family a copy of their edition. Uncle Denis (Mum's youngest Brother) got a copy of our family pages and posted them to me in England, and that is how I got to know of Beara Rootsweb. Riobard kindly gave me the details of my Mum's christening and the Priest and the Godparents' names, and we have all been enriched by the tales and legends and facts he embroidered the website with over the many years. Rest in peace Riobard, and may you still be step dancing and accordion playing and yarn spinning in Heaven! RIP.
