>General William Beall, b. 1790, son of Thaddeus, who >though aged 71 was commanding Confederate troops from Alabama in 1861 and >getting wounded in the process, according to Fielder Beall's book. >........ >Fielder M. M. Beall's work, Genealogy of the Beall Families in the United >States of America refers on page 198 to General William Beall, b. 1790, of >Carrol co., Ala. as thh 12th child of Thaddeus Beall, referred to on page >195-6, b. 1747. FMMB contains many errors, but he had a strong military >interest and I'm inclined to trust the military data in his book. I got really INTERESTED when these messages arrived. I've wondered for years who/where William of Thaddeus & Amelia was. I need more HELP. First, (I may be reading this wrong) I find no Carrol Co in Alabama? I found a Carrollton in Tuscaloosa Co. I checked the 1850 census for that county and I found 2 William Bealls. One was 19 the other 34. The oldest Beall I found in my search was Jno W. Beall 59 of GA. Of course, if he wasn't listed in the census index, I did not find him. This morning I checked Carroll Co., GA and there IS a William Beall 55 of GA (wife Nancy 52 of NC). Probably not our fellow?? Do you have this William, Jack told us about above, in some supporting record? William Beall son of Thaddeus is not my direct ancestor but is one gr....uncle that just keeps nagging me to be found. <G> Jean
