    3. It's nice to know that I, whose line also dead-ends at a William Beall, have company in my misery! I agree with "gintut" that the William Beall whose children were orphaned by 1821 could not be General William Beall, b. 1790, son of Thaddeus, who though aged 71 was commanding Confederate troops from Alabama in 1861 and getting wounded in the process, according to Fielder Beall's book. I discover I already have information about William of the orphans, sent to me some time ago by Jean Martin (jbmartin@auburn.campus.mci.net). By her records, Andrew was the youngest of the orphans, and I calculated that William's birth must have been about 1787 for him to be old enough to marry and have a family of four. With a similar age and geography to General William, it's easy to see why the confusion may have taken place. I keep a database of Bealls arranged by date of birth, as close as I can come to it. Other Williams from 1780 on include: 1. William of Nathan, b. about 1783, moved to Kentucky 2. William of Philip, b. about 1784, moved to Ohio 3. General William of Thaddeus, b. 1790, from NC to Alabama 4. William of Evan, b. 1790, North Carolina 5. William, b. about 1792, Tennessee, witness to War of 1812 service 6. General William of General Frederick, b. about 1793, Georgia 7. William Beall, b. 1794, married in Kentucky None of these seem very promising!
