She was a descendent of Ninian Beall and held an estate in Prince George County. His will of 1734 left his Prince George estate to his sons John and Stephen, which in the event of no heirs, was to descend to his son Nicholas. His wife, Mary (Warman) Watkins, named her daughters, Hester Lane, Jane Smith, Sarah Keene and Frances Dorsey (wife of John Hammond Dorsey). She also named her grandson Nicholas Watkins (of Stephen) and her granddaughter Mary Smith (of Anthony). NOTE: Mary (Warman) Watkins was dau. of Stephen and Hester (Gassaway) Warman, q.v. There was a Gassaway connection to Watkins/ Beall/ Warman: Col. Nicholas Gassaway (bap. 11 Mar. 1634-Jan 1692) son of Thomas Gassaway, St. Margaret's Parish, Westminster, London, England. christened 11 Mar 1634, at St. Margaret's Church, Westminster. Came to Maryland in 1649/50, and settled in south river Hundred, Anne Arundel County. Was active in Militia, and by 1687 had risen to rank of Major and soon after, Colonel. M (1) Hester Besson, dau. of Capt. Thomas and Hester Besson, he M (2) Anne Besson, her sister, and five other children John, d 1697; Hester (Gassaway) Groce/Gross WARMAN, d. before 1735; Jane Gassaway, d. 1736; Margaret Gassaway; and Thomas Gassaway 1683-1739. Hester (Gassaway) Groce/Gross d. before 1735 m. (1) Nicholas Groce/Gross who d. before 3 Feb 1698 and she m.
