-- [ From: Jackson H. Day * EMC.Ver #3.1a INTERNATIONAL ] -- Greg Nelson has done a good job of debunking some of the erroneous accounts which show Sarah Beall, sister of Mary, as a daughter of Ninian Beall. There certainly is confusion because Ninian called most Scotsmen , and certainly all Bealls, his kinfolk. But without a defined relationship of one sort or another. It's also confused by the fact that Sarah and Mary knew and admired Ninian, had been brought over as part of Ninian's efforts to settle his kinfolk in Maryland. However one additional factor that Greg didn't mention seals the issue as far as I'm concerned. Sarah Beall and her husband Samual Magruder had a daughter, Elizabeth Magruder. This daughter, Elizabeth Magruder, married Ninian Beall, Jr, son of Colonel Ninian. If Sarah were in fact Ninian's daughter, we would then have a marriage between Ninian's son Ninian and his granddaughter Elizabeth. Most accounts have Ninian as a strict Presbyterian. To my knowledge, Presbyterians have never encouraged that sort of relationship! Jack Day
