Occupation Farmer. They were married by Rev. John William Runckel. Wm. Bishop Lamar and Thos. Thrasher are witnesses. Although Elias' exact date of death is not known and no grave has been found, 1821 was thought to be his death date. In a Chancery record, Elias signed a note for $1,565.98 22 Feb 1822 to Wiilliam Hillary. Also, in the file it states that Elias died in the Fall of 1823. 84 Alexander Cordele was the administrator of Elias' estate. In Chancery case M1566 in Leesburg Courthouse, VA, the land in dispute was called "Diggs Short Hill", purchased 21 March 1816 from William Dudley & Eleanor Diggs. Latimer Alder and Henry Stream were deposed in 1833 at the house of Daniel Everhart regarding the value of timber on the land.83 All of Elias' 10 surviving children are named in the suit.
