I am searching for any information on Robert Beale (1541-1601) In 1572, Beale succeeded Robert Monsen as the member of Parliament for Totnes, in the capacity he was appointed cleck to Queen Elizabeth's Privy Council and held this position for many years. Robert was made to carry the death warrant to Fotheringay and to perform the ghastly duty of reading it aloud in the hall of the castle that Mary Stuart, Queen of Scots, was to be executed. He was an eye witness and wrote an account entitled "The Order and Manner of the Execution of Mary, Queen of Scots, February 8, 1587."
