    3. -- [ From: Jackson H. Day * EMC.Ver #2.5.3 ] -- Diane Hettrick, the Charles Beall whose account you posted was Charles, son of Ninian Jr, of the Alexander group. Charles was born in the ballpark of 1745. After his death, wife Tabitha m. a Swearingen. Debbie in Michigan, I looked up your Archibald Beall, b. Oct 4, 1756, and show him as someone with unknown ancestry--but who is often confused with Archibald Allen Beall, son of James, who was born in 1763. I will add the rest of your info to my database along with your email and maybe somebody will contact you sometime! I found an interesting product on the net called mapquest.com (that's the address, too) -- plug in a street address and it will give you a map with the address at the center, and you can zoom to different levels. At one zoom level it produced a perfect map of my own ancestral area with Browningsville, MD in the center, and not only major roads which are new since the 1700's, but also rivers, which are not. I now have that map mounted on three monographs on my web site -- you all might be interested in it both for the data but also just to see the map, as a number of other Bealls lived on Bennetts Creek. 1. [BEALL-L] New here
    2. Hello all. I am new here and want to thank Jean and Charlie for helping me find this list. My maiden name is Bales and my sister and I have recently started doing some research on our ancestors. We have been a little bit frustrated because it's not been easy to trace them. So far we are only back to the early 1800's and have traced them to Greene County, TN. My g-grandfather was John Bales, Jr. married to Mary Ann Griffith. His parents were John Beals, Sr. and Rhoda (Keller??). John's father was Jacob Beals and that's as far as we have at the current time. I'm doing a bunch of research this week at the National Archives, so I'm hoping to find more. I have so much more on the other side of my family tree, the BEALS/BALES side has been frustrating to say the least. Nancy Bales Dougherty

    3. Debbie in MI Alexander & Elizabeth's son James was dec'd by 16 Jan 1743, when Alexander made his will. There was an Archibald Beall in Bourbon Co, KY who was a surveyor, and surveyed a tract in Fayette Co, KY for another anc of mine, Arnold Custer, in 1784. Signed as Archibald E. Beall. I believe I saw this Archibald's will in Paris, KY. I think I concluded that he had not served in MD in Rev War. He had a substantial estate as I remember. He may well have gone south as a young man, before Rev War. Militia and Cont Line sources from VA, Carolinas, GA may fill in some gaps there. He rec'd enough education to survey. There was an Archibald Beall in GA who rec'd a land warrant for service. Charlie

    1. [BEALL-L] decendents of Alexander Beall
    2. Recently, I was given part of my family tree that was handed down from a great aunt (on the Beall side of my family). It reads something like this: Alexander Beall m. to Elizabeth Coombes Children: James Beall, 1st m. (unknown) James Beall,1st children: James Beall, II b. 1728 m. to Elizabeth Edmonston and d. 1804 James Beall, II children: Archibald Beall b. Oct. 4, 1756 m. to Pamela Crews and d. July 31, 1840. Archibald was supposed to be a Revolutionary War Vet. Archibald Beall children: Nathaniel Beall b. in Bourbon County, Ky. and m. to Sarah Talbot of Virginia. Nathaniel Beall children: James Milton Beall b. April 25, 1828 in Wayne County, In. was married to Eliza Dolloff from Ohio and he died on June 21, 1907 in Niles, Mich. James Milton Beall children: Frank P. Beall b. July 2, 1859 in Carrollton, Mo. and was married to Lillian M. Olmstead from Cass County, Mich. He died on Oct. 20, 1915. Frank P. Beall children: Lloyd M. Beall b. Oct. 14, 1893 in Drummond, Montana. He was married to Frances Latarski. He died on Oct. 19, 1955 in Northville, Mich. Lloyd M. Beall children: Dorothy Jean Beall b. July 31, 1923 in Michigan. She married Michael M. Spitz and is still living. In reading over the information that was given to me I noticed that one of the sources came from Fielder M.M. Beall. I thought I read somewhere that this was not a reliable source of information. I'm in hopes that someone out there could verify and/or add to the information I have received. I have the direct line for my family, but do not have any information regarding the siblings of the earliest Bealls. There are so many repeats of names that it becomes very confusing trying to keep up with everyone. Any help that can be given would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. Will is in "Will Library A/2 Washington Co, Md.? Does anyone out there have an emailable copy of Samuel Beall (1708-1780 died in Montgomery County, Maryland) who was married to Jane Edmonston--- or do you know where I could download copies of these wills???? Sure appreciate your help. Candee

    2. Lisa Simms
    3. Hi All, Just wanted to clear up the funny misnomer for Thomas which may have far-reaching consequences because my data's been passed around. I put "Loving" in Thomas' name in my database so I could find him easily. While Thomas may have been a loving man, the reference to "Loving" is in actuality a keyword for his land "Loving Acquaintance." So sorry for the misunderstanding. Guess it could be worse... his land could have been named something like Hateful Acquaintance!! Again, apologies for the misnomer. >Hello, > Does anyone know of Elizabeth Beall (born abt 1660) who married Thomas >Dryden. 1. [BEALL-L] Beall/Pottinger Marriages
    2. MR JACKSON H DAY
    3. -- [ From: Jackson H. Day * EMC.Ver #2.5.3 ] -- Charlie Marck mentions Ann Pottinger and James Beall. As indicated by the two entries below from my database, Ann Pottinger was herself the daughter of Mary Beall, one of two sisters brought over from Scotland by their 'kinsman' Col. Ninian Beall. The James Beall whom Ann married was a grandson of Alexander Beall, Immigrant, who was also considered a 'kinsman' by Col. Ninian, but no particular relationship has been established. Some of the e-mail addresses listed as source in my material may no longer be operative; I didn't realize at first how much people change e-mail addresses. B-SIS-2. Mary Beall, b. Scotland 1660 (or 1658), d. PGC 1720. m. ca 1685 or 1686 John Pottenger, b. 17 Jul 1662, d. 7 Apr 1735 (Robert Sherwood (TXFP92A) Silver Spring) in Collington Branch, Queen Anne's Parish, MD (Bieber). She apparently came to PG Co, MD from Scotland. John Pottenger was son of Henry Potynger, b. 1629 and Sarah Stanton. Henry in turn was son of Richard II, son of Richard Potynger, son of John Potynger, b. ca 1540. (H. Anne Whiteman (RVWN63A) Northridge, CA) (John Pottinger also m. Elizabeth Magruder, dau of Alexander, b. Jan 1676/7. (Carolyn Collins (NVXJ48A) Indiana) (10 children) John Pottinger was associated with Major's Lott, PGC, which is mentioned in his will. It is estimated that a Sarah Bell and a Mary Bell appeared about this time in now Prince Georges County, and that they came with these above mentioned 25 families that came with the Rev. Nathaniel Taylor" Apparently Col. Ninian Beall help to finance Rev. Taylor's building of a church, giving him land in Upper Marlboro, and ordering a silver service. "The Rev. Taylor was fully equipped to carry out Ninian's desire, expressed in the deed for the lot, to wit: "For ye propagation of ye Gospel of Jesus Christ". Accounts which show Mary or sister Sarah as daughters of Ninian are in error. Children's names and dates from Beverly Kercheval, whose major source was Parran. James Beall and wife Ann had no children. FMMB has James Beall, b. 1709, of Ninian, Sr [1672], d. 1783, m. Elizabeth Pooly with 4 children. This must be another James Beall. Land. 27 Mar 1755 James Beall of Prince Georges Co sells to William Waters of Frederick Co. Poplar Spring; Ann, wife of James, waives dower. Ann Evans Pottinger will 17 May 1767-3 Feb 1768 (PGW 1:603) mentions daughter Ann Beall, wife of James; other sons and daughters and their grandchildren, but no grandchildren of Ann & James. James' will 17 Apr 1778-22 May 1780 (MCW A:282) mentions brothers Robert and Benjamin, John's children Sibill & Richard, and Benjamin's children Lloyd, Ninian, Cephas, and Nancy.
