    2. Does anyone have an Ella Frances Beal in their records? Her parents were a T.J. Beal and Sarah James from Gordonsville,Smith County, TN who later moved to Sumner County, TN. Ella was married to my gg grandfather William Byram. Ella would have been born in the mid 1800s. Ella and William later moved to Davidson Co, TN. Thank you! William Tidwell pulga65245@aol.com

Beall's book, he mentions General William Beall, b. 1790, as having a son, John R. Beall, of Birmingham, Alabama. John was born 1833 which would put him in the right time frame. FMMB doesn't mention John R. Beall's wife's name. John R. Beall according to FMMB died in Nashville, TN in 1917. FMMB has many errors, so I would take this information as clues to what may be out there and try to independently verify it. I hope you discover that John R had a son John E! I try to keep my database up through the year 1800, so if in the course of your research you discover anything that goes back into the 1700s, please let me know. Jack day

    3. Well, Virginia Tuttle, you've solved two questions I had -- (1) I wonder if Virginia Tuttle is still around and (2) who is this "gintut" at AOL! Good to hear from you, and in looking up my database I had come across the material you had previously sent. > Thanks for all the good Beall/Bell info. Jean Bell Martin and I are 1st > cousins and > working together to find parents of our Andrew J. Beall, b. 1815 (Ga. or > N.C.). With luck maybe you can find more cousins out of this query to share the load! > What makes you think that Thaddeus's son William was a General. Fielder M. M. Beall's work, Genealogy of the Beall Families in the United States of America refers on page 198 to General William Beall, b. 1790, of Carrol co., Ala. as thh 12th child of Thaddeus Beall, referred to on page 195-6, b. 1747. FMMB contains many errors, but he had a strong military interest and I'm inclined to trust the military data in his book. > Also Jean and I do not know if his brothers, William, James, and Elijah were > younger or older than Andrew. My guess of William's birthdate as being around 1787 is based on Andrew being the youngest. If the others were born after him, then William could have been born later. I guess we won't really know until we find birth dates for the brothers. > Andrew is the one who paid the taxes on the Ga. Lottery Land > (Floyd Co., Ga.). The land was sold in 1849 and the deed said the brothers > were > of Harris County, Ga. 3. It's nice to know that I, whose line also dead-ends at a William Beall, have company in my misery! I agree with "gintut" that the William Beall whose children were orphaned by 1821 could not be General William Beall, b. 1790, son of Thaddeus, who though aged 71 was commanding Confederate troops from Alabama in 1861 and getting wounded in the process, according to Fielder Beall's book. I discover I already have information about William of the orphans, sent to me some time ago by Jean Martin (jbmartin@auburn.campus.mci.net). By her records, Andrew was the youngest of the orphans, and I calculated that William's birth must have been about 1787 for him to be old enough to marry and have a family of four. With a similar age and geography to General William, it's easy to see why the confusion may have taken place. I keep a database of Bealls arranged by date of birth, as close as I can come to it. Other Williams from 1780 on include: 1. William of Nathan, b. about 1783, moved to Kentucky 2. William of Philip, b. about 1784, moved to Ohio 3. General William of Thaddeus, b. 1790, from NC to Alabama 4. William of Evan, b. 1790, North Carolina 5. William, b. about 1792, Tennessee, witness to War of 1812 service 6. General William of General Frederick, b. about 1793, Georgia 7. William Beall, b. 1794, married in Kentucky None of these seem very promising! 2. Dear Researchers, While I am new to the computer, I not new to researching. I have tons of Beall info but still cannot find the parents of my William, believed to be the son of Thaddeus Beall of Md.,N.C..,and Ga. My Andrew J. Andrew paid taxes in 1834 in Upson Co., Ga. on the 40 acres received in the 1832 lottery. The land was located in Floyd Co.,Ga. It was sold in 1849 and deeds signed by Elijah, William, and James. Deeds said "of Harris Co.,Ga." Census records show none of the three in 1840 or 1850. If I could find these guys perhaps I could find their parents. The lottery said "4 orphans of William Beall". 3. My gr-gr-grandmother was Morning Glory Beal,(full blood Cherokee Indian) born prob. ca. 1800-1816, md. Robert Guthrie, Jr., Giles Co., Tn. One census record of her youngest son, my Gr-grandfather, Robert Landon Guthrie (b. 1832), says she was born in Mississippi; another says Alabama. The only census I have found her on is the 1830 census for Giles Co., Tn. and of course her husband, Robert Guthrie, Jr. was head of household and she is only listed in the age brackets, along with several of their children. Ca. 1839, she and her husband split up and the younger children were bound out. Robert Landon Guthrie was bound out to the William Newland family, also in Giles Co., Tn. in 1830 and 1840 but in 1850, this family, with Robert Landon Guthrie, are living in Springfield, Mo. Later he came to Arkansas. Morning Glory Beal had a sister Nancy Beal who md. John J. Morphis in Tennessee; they later came to Pope Co., Arkansas. There were several Beal families living in Giles Co., Tn. in 1830, 1840 and on but haven't been able to establish who were the parents of Morning Glory and Nancy Beal. Both Morning Glory and Nancy had sons named Thomas and both of them named daughters Lydia. There was a Thomas and a Lydia Beal in Giles Co. Does anyone know anything about this Beal family? (Was told that she walked on the Trail of Tears???) Betty G.McCollum

This may clear up some rumors about the LDS website. Sandie This Should Answer Question About LDS SEARCH Hello Fellow Researchers, I have been bombarded with questions on the Family Search Website and would like to pass on to you the information I received when I spoke to an "Official" Church spokesperson at Family Search. He advised me of the following: The OFFICIAL LDS Church website is LDS.ORG Go to media resources and find News update. The church is posting updates as they come in as to the state of the family search. Within 3 or 4 minutes of the NEWS UPDATE ANNOUNCING the FAMILY SEARCH is online. They will post it THERE! SO Keep checking. Should be a couple of days. It will be a MASSIVE SITE. They are prepared to test this site using anyone who wishes to go to it and use it. THERE WILL BE NO PASSWORD TO ACCESS IT. The rumor about the password was incorrect. When the site was put up it was restricted to a few....about 100 people who designed it and are putting the finishing touches on it, someone there LEAKED, YES LEAKED, (AN EMPLOYEE) and that is why some of you got in. When the masses bombarded the site it crashed cause it was not finished. They have now given each worker an INDIVIDUAL PASSWORD, SOOOOO IF it gets leaked again they will know who did it. It has been postponed being put online a few days because of the crash. There are now about 12 popular stories going around about Family Search. I ASSURE YOU MINE CAME FROM A CHURCH SPOKESMAN. IF you pass information about the site on to others please just send them this message I have sent you. The whole message. Now please remember this. 1. Go to LDS.org 2. Find Media Resources 3. Check News Updates That will inform you when it is going online. Please notify everyone you know who will be interested. I hope this helps you all. You have my permission to pass this note on to any Genealogy Lists you wish. Again, Please pass the whole note not just sections of it or we will have more rumors. Thanks, Karen Gaughan in Pa.
