    1. [BEALL-L] Siblings Verlinda,Lucy and Josiah Beall
    2. PVMeistrel
    3. Can anyone help with PROOF of the generation and/or relationship problem I am having with Verlinda and Josiah Beall? As with so many cases with the Bealls I have seen conflicting published genealogies (not only on e-mail). To help orient you: John Beall married Verlinda Magruder (1688-1742) | (1693- 1745) | ___________________________|_____________________________ | | | | | Samuel Verlinda 7 other children Josiah Lucy (1773-1778) 1733? (1715-1768??) m. Eleanor | Brooke | ___|_________ ____|___ 16 others Thomas(1744-1823) Thaddeus ?others m. Verlinda Beall -------???--------------------------| _____________|__________________________________________ Eleanor John Brooke Josiah Priscilla Elizabeth Lucy Isaac Ann/Nancy Several genealogies or county histories say that Thomas Beall married his aunt, Verlinda Beall (sister of Samuel) This is I believe based on the wills below of Josiah and Lucy Beall. However, that Josiah's will is later than suppposedly Thomas' brother Josiah died. Recently, I saw a published genealogy saying that Thaddeus had a brother Josiah and sister Verlinda. This also would fit the will information. But I have found no proof that Thaddeus had any siblings. Will of Josiah Beall, Allegany Co. Probate Records 1790-1850, will Book A: Josiah Beall, p. 70 Dec. 11, 1804 to nephew and neices, the children of Thomas Beall of Samuel and Verlinda, named: John Brooke Beall; Josiah Beall; Isaac Beall; Ann Beatty, the wife of John Conrad Beatty; Eliza Beall, the wife of Aza Beall; Lucy English, the wife of James English; Priscilla Beall; and Eleanor Beall deceased, therefore her children William Beall Beatty, thomas Beall Beatty, Otho.. Beatty, Lewis Beatty and Sonia Beatty. Will of Lucy Beall, Allegany Co. Probate Records 1790-1850, will Book A: Lucy Beall, 5/23/1799 to brother Josiah give all the following negroes to wit one negr woman named Catherine with all the following children: Jeremiah, Adam, James, Samuel, Joshua, Sazais and Isaac to him his heairs and assign forever; to Priscilla Beall, daughter of my sister Verlinda Beall, deceased give negro woman Phillis; to Lucy Beall, daughter of my sister Verlinda Beall, deceased give negro woman Peg; to Ann Beall, daughter of my sister Verlinda Beall, deceased give negro woman Aucie; to Ann Juliett Beall, daughter of Asa and Elizabeth Beall, one negro girl Nance; to Lucy, Ann, Elizabeth, and Pricilla daughters of my sister Verlinda Beall, deceased, I give all my apparel; to Lewissa Elinor Beatty, daughter of John Carrol Beatty, one negro girl, V...? to brother Josiah furniture...etc. So Verlinda had a brother Josiah and a sister Lucy. These wills would appear to be too late for siblings of Samuel. So did Thaddeus really have siblings? Any help would be appreciated in straightening this mess out...and not just hearsay...but any FACTS. Thanks , Rita (PVMeistrel@aol.com)
