    1. [BAZE] Updated Rootsweb Mailing Lists to Mailman 3.0
    2. Rootsweb has upgraded the software that runs RootsWeb Mailing Lists to Mailman 3.0. The interface is different than what you are used to, but it is more secure and we hope you will enjoy using it. Rootsweb removed all the existing passwords when they updated the system, but not the email addresses. Some of you may never have had a password, but you will find the system easier to use if you set one. The upgraded system has a completely different interface. If you have not re-registered your account since March 1st, you will need to re-register your account.  Your old login will not work. To better understand the new system, Rootsweb recommends that you download PDF documents you will find at:  Jim YoungList Admin

    1. [BAZE] ADMIN: Send Messages as Plain Text
    2. Jim Young
    3. RootsWeb programmers have placed filters on their server to discard all HTML or styled text messages. SPAM messages are usually formatted in HTML text; thus, the Rootsweb server kills all HTML messages as they are received. If anyone has recently posted a message to the mailing list and it has not been delivered, please check the settings on your email program to insure messages sent to RootsWeb are in plain text format. The following website provides assistance in formatting your email program to send "plain text" messages. Happy Huntin' Jim Young List Admin

    1. ADMIN: Plain Text Messages

    3. The intent of this message is to inform subscribers about a recent change in RootsWeb's policy regarding messages sent to mailing lists. RootsWeb is now completely filtering out (blocking) all HTML coded email messages to reduce SPAM, the majority of it being raunchy pornographic advertisements. When posting to a RootsWeb mailing list, your message should be sent as "plain text" versus HTML, RTF (rich text format) or fancy colored text and stationary. Therefore, use only WHITE background stationary and BLACK fonts. In most instances, you can control the format by adjusting the settings in your mail program. Instructions for formatting your mail to plain text are provided on the following website: If there are any questions regarding this issue, please consider responding through this list or contact me privately.
