I sent that previous email before I was finished <sigh> Take care. Marilyn The Cripe Cemetery is located in Pleasant township and also goes by the name of Frantz Gaveyard, Tunker cemetery and Dunkard cemetery. The cemetery is located on a knoll on the north side of State Road 114 and west of county road 200 west. The cemetery was recorded by L. H. Binnie in 1970. The cemetery was updated by visiting the cemetery and using newspaper obituaries, as well as county histories. ************************************** See what's new at http://www.aol.com

I have looked for the name Baysinger on the Indian census rolls but couldn't find any. On the census for my great grandfather it does list him as being white. What's interesting though is that I did find his wifes maiden last name on a couple of the Indian rolls, but for a different tribe than my family says. Do you have any advice on where I could go from here? Someone emailed me a few months ago and told me that she was told that my grandmothers sister proved to be part Indian, but I haven't been able to get ahold of her since...and you're right this is fun.. lol and so aggravating at the same time!! Were all members of the family always listed as white? Then you work back, step by step, checking out each of the people in every generation as thoroughly as possible. Your family story mentions possible native blood for your ggrandfather, but not through which line it might have come. It could be a marriage anywhere in the family, really -- not necessarily a direct ancestor. In my experience, family stories are a great place to *start*, but only to get you out there gathering evidence to test the truth of the story. Isn't genealogy fun? Emma BAYSINGER on 5 Feb 1891. Unfortunately there is no 1890 census to catch Emma with her parents or previous husband. I looked in the 1880, but saw only 2 Emmas, both perhaps too old (18 & 19 in 1880). I also searched the 1900 for Charlie and Emma, but don't see them in the index. Have you looked up the marriage record to see if any more details are given, such as the birthplace and/or age of either of these people? There are few to no departement, county or region-wide censuses or other general surveys such as our US Census records. I have some ideas to help you dig deeper and find that crucial information here: http://genweblog.blogspot.com/2006/02/european-research.html Another idea to consider is finding a male BUSSINGER cousin to do the y-DNA test. I haven't seen many B*singer DNA tests, but hopefully someone will start a project and start recruiting men to take part. We could all save ourselves quite a bit of work, that way! Oh, be sure to search the archives of the Swiss lists, just to see if there are any other BUSSINGER researchers you might work with. http://archiver.rootsweb.com All the best, Valorie

Marilyn Oh good lord, I have a short memory! Yes, now I remember this. I'm going to have a friend go to the Kansas City NARA and look up the paperwork. That's where the District Court records are. Sheesh, I need to read my own blog posts, once in awhile! I was looking stuff up on Heritage Quest (the books) just to see if there was something new, saw the divorce notation, and didn't follow up properly. Thanks again, Marilyn! Valorie
