    1. Re: [Baysinger] Peter and Elizabeth in Colorado
    2. Terri Malinowski
    3. Yes, apparently both states have a Douglas County, just to confuse us a bit! Peter and Elizabeth apparently lived for nearly 20 years in Kansas, up through the 1880 census which placed them there. My thought is that she died sometime after 1880, and that Peter then moved closer to his daughter Nancy Frances. Your theory also makes sense: that both of them moved near Nancy Frances sometime after 1880 and that Elizabeth died before Peter. It's odd that the Douglas County (Colo.) archives as well as the cemetery itself can account for Peter's burial in 1886 but not Elizabeth, isn't it? Unless it's Nancy Frances who is buried beside Peter. But then where is Elizabeth? I'll keep searching for a bit and then order a stone with Peter's dates on it, plus a line in memorial to Elizabeth his wife. Thanks...Terri On Feb 10, 2008, at 5:47 AM, GNEOLOG@aol.com wrote: > In a message dated 2/10/2008 2:01:54 A.M. I note that you have Peter buried in Douglas Co. CO and I have Peter and Elizabeth living in 1860 and 1865 Douglas Co. KS. Am I correct that they were in Kansas at that time. My scenario (supposition, of course) is that at some point in time, they perched in Douglas Co for awhile where Elizabeth died 1880 - 1886. Elias went to live with his daughter and son in law in Weld Co where he died in 1886 and his body returned to Douglas Co to be buried with Elizabeth. 2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: terrimal Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.baysinger/359/mb.ashx Message Board Post: My gr-gr-grandparents are Peter and Elizabeth (Rice) Baysinger. I have located his unmarked gravesite (Row G, Lot 37) in the Bear Cañon Cemetery in Douglas County, CO. He was born 13 March 1808 and died 9 Sept 1886 in Weld County, CO (not Weede Co. as noted in some accounts). I plan to place a simple gravestone for him. The cemetery sexton at Sedalia, Douglas Co. tells me there is another gravesite beside his, also unmarked, and asks if I know whether Peter's spouse, daughter or other relative might be interred there. Does anyone know? Peter was born in Virginia; lived in Kentucky, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana and finally in Kansas during the Bloody Wars over slavery at least until 1880. He and Elizabeth are in the 1880 census there. Six years later, he died in Colo., but I cannot locate death records for either Peter or Elizabeth in Kansas or Colorado. The cemetery sexton says all cemetery records were lost in a 1965 flood. Peter may have gone to Colorado to live with, or near, their youngest daughter, Nancy Frances Longan, in Longmont, Weld County where he died 9 Sept. 1886. I do not know why he was buried in another county, nor where Elizabeth is buried or where his daughter is buried, although I know she died 9 Nov 1927. The cemetery sexton tells me that gravesite #38, next to Peter's grave, is marked in the file with Baysinger ?, but he has no record of whether anyone is buried there. All records were lost in a 1965 flood. Are there any descendants of Peter and Elizabeth's children: Elias Henry (my gr-grandfather), Eva Jane, Catherine Ann, Peter Washington, William Harrison, Elizabeth Ellen, Oregon Franklin, Nancy Frances or Zacharias Taylor who know details? Why Colorado? When did Elizabeth die? Where is she buried? Terri Malinowski in Seattle Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. 1. [Baysinger] Casper
    2. Just wanted to pass along that while I was working on my Callison family while in Salt Lake City last week, I came across Casper Baysinger paying poll tax in 1804, 1805, 1807 and 1809 Greenbrier Co., VA. He was not listed after 1809. So theoretically, the point could be made that Peter Baysinger, his son, was born in Greenbrier assuming that this is Casper and Eve Snider Baysinger. Take care. Marilyn Terri, I am trying to think what research we could do to find the death date of Elizabeth Rice Baysinger. Don't give up. TAke care. Marilyn **************Start the year off right.
