    1. Re: [BAYLISS] Bayliss NOT Bayless
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: BryanHoggarth Surnames: Baylis Classification: queries Message Board URL: Message Board Post: Holly, You said "Thomas and Mary were married July 1859 in Manchester, England." Presumably this is where that came from (and it appears on a Ancestry Tree called Stockinger Jr Family Tree by Jeff Stockinger) Marriages Sep 1859 Baylis Thomas Manchester 8d 313 Broadhurst Samuel Manchester 8d 313 Lester Mary Manchester 8d 313 Lloyd John Rogers Manchester 8d 313 McKee Mary Manchester 8d 313 However this married couple can be seen on the 1871 census (attached) and clearly have different children to those show on the 1880 census (attached) (which by the way does have the twins age 16 and not 19, clerical error?). So Jeff Stockinger has got his couples mixed up and the 1863 marriage identified by John is the one you want. The 1880 census has an Elizabeth age 11 born in England and this may be her Births Apr-Jun 1870 BAYLIS Elizabeth Banbury 3a 734 The next child in the 1880 census is James age 9 born Canada so they presumably emigrated between April 1870 and 1871. I don't have access to the ships passenger lists. I cant find them in the UK 1871 census so expect they had left by then. I can't pin down Thomas BAYLISS in the census records of 1861 and before though the article in the Oxford Journal of Sat. 4th April 1857 could be him.
