The Mannsville News Mannsville, Indian Territory March 29, 1907 ELDRIDGE E. BAXTER Tonight all that is mortal of Eldridge Baxter is sleeping in a new made grave in Allen Dale cemetery, where the wild flowers of the prairies are blooming and sighing around his last resting place. The subject of our sketch, Eldridge E. Baxter, was born in Fall Branch, East Tennessee June 9, 1868. He professed faith in Christ at the age of 17, united with the Missionary Baptist Church and was baptized. He was married to MISS LAURA ANNIE SLIMP June 28 and was called home March 17, 1907. Twelve years ago he moved from East Tennessee to Indian Territory, near Mannsville, where he has lived until last September when he moved t Comanche Country, Oklahoma Territory, near Geromino. His health had been failing for a year and for the past four months, he had been confined to bed. He was patient with his great suffering, hoping against hope that he might recover. After he left the parental roof in east Tennessee, he wandered away from the path of righteousness as many a one has done who has left a Christian home and gone to a far-off land, but that mother in Tennessee and that Christian wife have never forgot to intercede for him and the Lord brings back his own. …. The funeral was largely attended. BRO. TENNISON conducted the funeral service at the open grave, commending the bereaved wife and daughter to Him who has said he would never forsake them. Mrs. Baxter buried her dear mother in Tennessee just 19 years the day her husband was buried. The Lord in His wisdom doeth all things well…
