Rick, I have a Alexander Baxter who was born in County Fermanagh, Ireland, and emigrated to the US in 1864 to Pittsburgh, PA. He was a drayman and lived there until his death as far as I know. I believe his father was James and he had a brother James plus other siblings. I realize this is later than your Alexander but wondered if there was a connection. The brother James is my husbands connection and I know he was knicknamed "Red" because of his hair color. James emigrated in 1874, lived one year with Alexander then moved to Delaware Co., Iowa, where there were other families from County Fermanagh living. He married Anna Carrothers and they eventually settled in Scottsbluff, Nebraska. I haven't made any connections with Ireland yet but keep hoping to make a trip over there some day and do research.
