    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/CkC.2ACIB/1273.1.1 Message Board Post: I was just checking the message boards and noticed you had previously replied to my ad, but I do not recall getting any email. I was just talking to a researcher last night about William Chester Baxter and thought I would check here again. I am under contract to purchase the house in Seguin that he had built in 1851, or at least he was credited with having built it. I am in the process of getting it registered and plan on restoring it. I have no relation to the Baxter surname as far as I can tell, even though my family had settled outside of Seguin in thw 1870's. I am mainly interested in William Chester Baxter form a historical point of view. Who was he, what did he do, why did he move to Texas (apperently he fought in the Texas Revolution), why did he settle in Seguin and why did he build a Greek Revival house there. I also need to find out anything about his wife (Caledonia NEILL, sorry I have no dates) and her family, and any children. One of the daughters married into the FENNELL family, who had purchased the house in 1860. Descendants of the FENNELL family still own the property, as it has not been sold since 1860. William was apparently the Postmaster in Seguin with his daughter, and somewhere I though! t I had read he was a blacksmith. I do not have his death date and am not sure of his birth date. Any information you may have, no matter how small, would be appreciated so that I can document his involvement with the house. Thanks for any help. You can see photos of the house taken in the 1930's at http://memory.loc.gov/cgi-bin/query/D?hh:1:./temp/~ammem_Ekz6:: if the link does not work then do a Google search for historic american building survey, the search for baxter fennell
