    1. Re: [BAXTER~] Related to our ancestors?????????????
    2. Your nephew may be right about DNA. Over the course of generations, DNA changed and diluted because offspring between two unrelated people occurs. If your nephew wants to believe that we are no longer related to our ancestors after the 3rd generation because of DNA, that is his choice-no matter how narrow minded. Family/relatives/ancestors are not entirely scientific anyway. Families are social structures that are not bound by blood alone. I am an example of this. I am adopted. Families are legal institutions as well. Your nephew must be a bright fellow if he is in the FBI, but he needs to take the blinders off. Rick Baxter Lincoln Stormers Baseball www.eteamz.com/stormers

    3. Well, Sandra, I don't know where the FBI is coming from but recent revelations on their practices has led me to believe they don't know everything...they just think they do. And if they don't, they just wing it. Not trying to be disrespectful, just matter of fact. I personally had a DNA Y-Chromosome match with a distant cousin 7-generations back. 1. [BAXTER~] Related to our ancestors?????????????
    2. I help please. I talked at length this morning with my nephew who is with the FBI. He tells me that after three generations we are no longer related to our ancestors. we are linked by names but not by blood. He says no one is related to one another after third cousins. My line/ancestors: James Waldrop, Sr. Benjamin Waldrop Green Berry Waldrop 1794-1854 Joseph Ryan Waldrop 1827-1870 James Harry Waldrop 190601962 Me. So what he is saying I am only related to Green Berry Waldrop,Benjamin Waldrop his papa is not related to me, I am just in his name only line. We are only researching our names and not who wer are related to. So if James Waldrop, Sr. and Ann hadn't married in the 1700s, would I be here?? Does it not take one generation to make another. He said this was taught in the FBI and DNA. Help me please.....I am not educated in this and he is. Please tell me he is wrong. Sandra maiden Waldrop Georgia

My cousin's grandmother Lucy Baxter married Emmitt Newburn McClain Lucy had a twin sister named Lillie and a brother named Tom A. Baxter. Tom was born 2 Oct. 1886 in Tioga, Grayson County, Texas, some other reseachers have said. This I know, Lucy did have a brother named Tom A. Baxter and he lived in Henryetta, Okmulgee County, Oklahoma. My cousin and family went to see him when she was young. She said they drove over, or around Tiger Mountain, when they visited him. >From other messages I have read, I THINK James Edward Baxter and Sally Short may be the childrens parents. James and Sally had a son named Cosby/Causbey, and the name Causba has come down in the family. The only time I have seen the Cosby, is in the James A. Baxter family. ( I write the name in so many different ways, because that has been how I have found it spelled. One researcher has Abraham Baxter as the father of a James Edward Baxter and a Thomas A. Baxter. All circumstantial as yet. I just wanted tou to know, while the Baxter family is not my own, I am working hard to find some connections for my cousin's grandmother Lucy Baxter and her father's uncle Tom A. Baxter. Thank you, and if the message doesn't connect to you, perhaps it will connect to another "cousin". Joy

Surnames: Baxter, Van Allen Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/CkC.2ACIB/1394 Message Board Post: Two unmarried daughter of James Baxter and Nancy Van Allen died in Dodge County, Minnesota. Jane Baxter, a retired housekeeper, died of carcinoma of the liver on July 22, 1925 at the age of 75 years, 7 months and 7 days. She was born on December 15--the year wasn't given but I calculate it as 1849. She was buried in Kasson Cemetery. Her sister Fannie died on 23 June 1936 of chronic myocarditis and was buried in Kasson. She was born 27 July 1856 and her occupation was given as housekeeper. Jane and Fannie were both born in New York, as were both of their parents,. This information comes from their death certificates, which I obtained hoping they were part of "my" Baxter family, but they weren't. I have no further information.
