Is the town Obermpfalz/Sulzback Rosenberg on current maps - part of the old Saxon State? I am looking for any information on Karl Hammer, Lutheran minister to the duke of Saxsony

I'm willing to bet that "Obermpfalz" is just a misspelling of Oberpfalz. Sulzbach-Rosenberg is a town in the Oberpfalz. You can find it using the Shtetlseeker: http://www.jewishgen.org/ShtetlSeeker/loctown.htm Just place "Sulzbach-Rosenberg" into the search engine and select Germany from the dropdown menu. Then start the search. Don't worry about the other options. The search yields just one town by that name. Click on the coordinates and you will see a mapquest map with a red star for the approximate location. Zoom in for more detail and eventually the name.
