To Gail Jorgensen: Hello. I am a greatX3 granddaughter of Margaret HARTMAN(N)of Bavaria. She m. William Theodore and they came to US sometime @1854. Three other Theodore siblings came along with them, along with the patriarch. They were in Staten Island for at least a little while as that is where first daugher born in July 1854. They relocated to Lordville, Hancock, Delaware County,NY and siblings were in nearby Fremont Center, Sullivan County,NY by late 1850's. Margaret was born @1826 in Germany and died in Lordville (we think) in 1888. They are buried in ST. Lawrence cemetery in Gt. Bend, PA. We believe Margaret had two sisters, Genevieve and Madeline who both reportedly came to US. We can locate Madeline who married a Hirsch in Sullivan County in 1855, but we have never located Genevieve. We have no parent info on Margaret, but Bavaria has been listed as her birthplace. Does any of this connect to your Hartmann? Noreen (Alexander) Manzella
to Noreen (Alexander) Manzella, I have in my home page list several Hartmann emigrants. Hartmann is quite frequent and I have got more f them in my data base, not yet updated on the emigrant list. For the year of 1854 there are 1o Hartmann emigrants from different villages. Two of them I think are your Genevieve and Madeline: German spelling is Genoveva und Magdalena Hartmann, 1854. I can give you the name of their home town. Sincerely, Reinhard Hofer list of emigrants from Bavaria of 1824 - 1914 with ca. 6500 names. see my list at www.emigration-research.de.vu
