    3. Hi Judy, thanks for the response. It is certainly possible that your John Schneider born 1838 and my Valentine Schneider born about 1842 could have been brothers. However, I think the name Schneider is very common in Bavaria and Valentin and John/Johan/Johannes are also pretty common as given names. My Valentine Schneider had a son John Valentine Schneider which might add a tiny bit of credence to the possibility of brothers. Do you know where in Bavaria your John was born?
