    3. Belinda, At first I suspected that with a French name like DeChant he came from the Palatinate (Pfalz) region, formerly part of Bavaria, that is near the French border. Do you have anything to to support or deny that thesis? On the contrary, there is a town named Dinau about 12 miles NW of Regensberg. Dinau Now part of: Kallmünz County : | | +---- Regensburg {R} District : | +------- Oberpfalz State : +--------- Bayern ZIP : 93183 Popul : 259 Locat : (Kallmünz) 49d01m N 11d57m E Checking the online German phonebook at http://www.dastelefonbuch.de/ , there are 161 listings of Dechant in the zipcodes 93100-93199 surrounding Dinau/Kallmuenz. Maybe that is your town. There are only 5 Glockners (all in Duggendorf) and 3 Gloeckners listed in the same region. If Dinau/Kallmuenz is your town, you can write to some of the Dechants or write to the church archive in Regensberg (what was their religion?). I am looking for information on DeChant's who left Dinau (?) Bavaria around 1850. My ggg-grandfather was Joseph DeChant Born in 1793 he was married to Eva Klingshirn; gg-grandpa was John DeChant born in Bavaria in 1829. He was married to Anna Klockner or Glockner whose Father was Joseph Glockner. Her dob was 1834 (in Bavaria) . Joseph Glockner was born in 1794 in Bav. Thanks for any information any one can offer. I have done some research through LDS but came to a dead end.
