Hi Eric, I suppose there might be a relationship between families living so close together, but not always. I remember the time my mother and father took me to a city 50 miles away from where we lived to meet some other WILTZes. We found out that they could go back to the 1600's and no connection. Years after of course I found out our old world surname had been WILZ, not WILTZ at all. The "T" was added after a couple or more decades of living in the new world. I have as I said a long line of HAAS family members, but I just checked and I have only one WEIGAND. He is Daniel S. WEIGAND born November 27, 1902 and died January 12, 1980 in Red Bank, Monmouth County, NJ. I do not know where he was born. As far as I know he is not related to HAAS.
