    3. Hello, Try search for the church records from the town in which he lived in, here in America. Very often when someone died they list the town in which they came from in their chruch records. This has been a big help for me. Mine were Lutheran and they do have more in the records than Catholic I believe. Another thing I would believe the immigration records over the other sources that you mentioned. Happy hunting and don't give up!! You will find something somewhere. Marguerite Hi! I continue to struggle with knowing where to go next in my research of the John Bohn family. The New York census records all say the family members came from Baden. John's death certificate just says he was born in Germany in 1825. He immigrated from Bremen to America in 1849. The original immigration lists from Bremen were destroyed in World War II, so the available immigration lists were created as arrivals in New York, rather than departures from Bremen. Most people immigrating from Bremen were listed as coming from Mittelrüsselbach Germany, whether they did or not. John's declaration of intent to become an American citizen lists his place of origin as Bavaria. Because of the different information from the various sources, I don't know if John came from Baden or Bavaria, and even if that were known for sure, I still don't know which town in either of those areas he came from. I know I can't write for more information anywhere in Germany until I have a town location. Any ideas where I can go from here to get that information or where I should go from here?? Any help would be most appreciated.
