Hello, I am new to this mailing list and new to German research. My 4xgreat grandfather, Sebastian SEEMANN and his wife Regina (nee KEMMER) immigrated to Australia in late 1862. Sebastian was born to Michael SEEMANN and Otilia KEMPLE in approximately 1837, and married Regina in 1862, prior to immigrating. So far I have searched death/birth/marriage certificates from Australia, the Queensland Card Shipping Index (I could not find them here) and naturalization certificates. The most information I have uncovered is that he came from Bavaria (on the naturalization certificate) but unfortunately no townships have been discovered. Does anyone have any ideas where I can move from here? I have access to an LDS Family History Center, but am not sure which records I could look at without having a town. What about shipping records from Germany - is there a particular port which most people from Bavaria would have used in 1862? Regards Werona
