I found a great grandfathers Sachsen-Altenburg birthplace from his brothers Civil War Records. When checking church records see if there is a Membership List or Seelen Record. That would be separate section from the birth, marriage, death records. I found another great great grandfather's place of marriage in Meseritz, Posen, Prussian from that section of the church book. Many of the members were immigrants, and it listed birthdates, etc. LaVerne
