He was the son of Franz Manzenberger and Theresa Lenz according to a marriage license in Lawrence Co., IN. He was married first in Germany and had one son named Michael. His first wife died in Germany and he immigrated to the US bef. 1888. His son stayed in Germany with his maternal grandparents. John was married second to Aloisa (Alvisa, Louisa) Kern in Lawrence Co., IN on November 17, 1888. She came to America from Unterkreuzberg, Bavaria, Germany. She was b. May 16, 1862 and immigrated to the US bef. 1888. She was the dau. of John Kern and Francis Schusler. Before moving to Lawrence Co., IN, John lived in Chicago, IL.
