Hello, I have a map with Motten listed and it is just a few miles southwest of Gersfeld. Also a short distance south of Fulda and north of Bad Brückanau. Most maps should have these villages and towns on them. I have a book-map name Michelin ( it is a Tourist and Motoring Atlas covering Germany). You can buy it at most any good book store in the United States. Motten is listed on pg 59 of my book, which I bought last year. My grandfather was an expert carpenter, my dad an engineer (not train)-- > We were always told we had cousins down in New Orleans, La.--from data I got from someone down in La., a Johann Georg Herberth, born about June of 1834 would be this person--his fathers' name was Johann Balthasar Herberth, mothers' name Kunigunda Will or Schuhmann. This gentleman shows a "Motten, Unterfrauhen, Bayern as place of birth--which I cannot find any trace of--much less if this is even any real place in Germany--but since he sent this to me, I'm sending it to you-- > Because of the circumstances of my gg-grandfathers' departure, I don't know if there was any further contact with the family in Germany--though we got a letter after V-E Day from Germany indicating they were our family and asking help--and though we sent a lot of CARE packages to Europe, I do not know if they went to this specific family or not. > Sorry for the book--since I have you folks on line--can you tell me the part of Germany I would look in for a FILLER surname? > Sincerely, > Carol H.
