My Bavarian family came to the US in 1755. They sailed from Hamburg and settled in Loudoun County, VA. They later came to Doddridge County, VA (now WV). This is the area where I grew up. The names of the original emigrants from Germany were John William and Mary Swiger. They had a son, Christopher, who was about 2 when they left Germany. They had many other children after they arrived in Loudoun County, VA. I am a direct descendant of 2 of their children through my great-grandparents. Those 2 children are Jacob and Elizabeth. I'm an 8th generation from John and Mary. I have a dear friend (also distant cousin) who is a direct descendant of Christopher. Please contact me if you have any informatioin about the Swigers (or a spelling like Schweiger, Swaggart, etc.).
